Facilities:

Mr. Blosser has a complete avionics, communications and electronics laboratory
equipped with test equipment capable of designing, analyzing and testing a wide variety of components and/or systems.

 

Electronic Equipment Available for Testing.

Much of the electronic test equipment is
laboratory standard and capable of
National Bureau of Standards Certification.

 

1.         IFR Service Monitor with Spectrum Analyzer. Frequency range 100Hz to 999.9999Mhz in 100Hz steps, Oscilloscope, Audio generator, Receiver/Monitor/Generator, am/fm up to 999.9999Mhz. Power monitor up to 100 watts. TCXO Master oscillator. Used for testing frequency, FM deviation, AM Modulation, transmitter power output, receiver sensitivity, audio generator, and etc., For testing any AM or FM 2-way radio, phones, RF PA / AMP, amateur radios, and CB radios.

 

2.      SPEC Scientific Broad Range LUX/FC Light Meter.  Light types; Tungsten, Fluorescent, Mercury and Sunlight. 0-50,000 LUX, 0-5000 foot candles.

 

3.       General Radio Model 1982 Precision Sound Level Meter and Analyzer with 1562A Calibrator.  dB ranges of 30-80, 50-100, 70-120 and 90-140.  Weighting of Flat, C, B, and A. Octave filters of 31.5, 63, 125, 250, 500, 1K, 2K, 4K, 8K and 16K Hz.  Both analog and digital read outs.  The microphone can be remoted.

 

4.      Tektronics Model 496 Portable Spectrum Analyzer. 1-1800 MHz.

 

5.      HP Model 141 T Spectrum Analyzer with 8444A Tracking Generator, 0.5 to 1300 MHz.  Low frequency 8556A plug in 0-30, 0-300 kHz.

 

6.      HP Model 5340 Frequency Counter. 10 Hz to 250 MHz and 110 Hz to 18 GHz.

 

7.      HP 8640B Signal Generator. AM/FM/Pulse Modulation.  500KHz to 1024 MHz with counter.

 

8.      Tektronics 100MHz Model 2235A Dual trace Oscilloscope.

 

9.      Wavetek Model 2002A Sweep Signal Generator, 0 – 500 MHz, 500 – 1500MHz, and 1500 to 2500 MHz.

 

10. Model IG - 1275 Sweep Signal Generator. Sweep ranges 03Hz to 3MHz in 6 ranges. CW, Gated, Burst, Linear and Logarithmic sweep in six ranges, 10 micro sec to 1 sec. Sine, triangle and square wave outputs.

 

11.  Protek Model 3201 2GHz RF Field Strength Analyzer.

 

12.  I.C. Engineering DC to 12 GHz Field Strength Meter.

 

13. Advanced Electronics Applications Antenna Analyzers. SWR – 121, 1 to 32 MHz, 30 – 150 MHz, 140 – 525 MHz, CellMate 806 – 960 MHz.

 

14. Advanced Electronics Applications Model TDR-1 Cable Graphic Time Domain reflectometer.  Sixteen to 2000feet, Coaxial cable 45 to 150 Ohms impedance, two wire cable 180 to 600 Ohms with velocity factors of 30 to 99 percent.

 

15.  MEC model 140 Portable NAV/COMM Navigation tester/calibrator. Includes Marker Beacon, Localizer and VOR capability. Several Bird watt meters with a large collection of plug ins.

 

16. Saunders & Associates Model 100HF Crystal Impedance Meter. Other miscellaneous Lab type meters.

Glossary:

A&P
Federal Aviation Administration Certificate (not a license): Airframe and Power Plant. Permits the person to legally work on ANY aircraft. Mr. Blosser teaches this part-time at both Mount San Antonio College and Orange Coast College.
IA
Similar to A&P: Inspector Authorization. Must be an A&P. Permits the person to inspect the A&P's work and approve it for "return to service".
GROL
FCC General Radio Operators License. Permits a technician to open up and work on aircraft and shipboard avionics, i.e. radios. Mr. Blosser teaches this course at Orange Coast College.
